PlanetLab Tutorial

Date: September 11, 2008, at 9:30 - 12:30

Venue: Les Cordeliers, UPMC Paris Universitas, Institut des Cordeliers, 15 rue de l'Ecole de Médecine, 75006 Paris

PlanetLab is a large distributed test bed for networked applications. It comprises more than 700 nodes spread across the world. There are more than 180 peer reviewed published papers based on the PlanetLab test bed, and that's just the beginning. If you are interested in testing applications and protocols in a real-world setting, with actual network latency, bandwidth and failure modes, then PlanetLab is for you. In this tutorial, you will learn how to use the test bed, from signing up for an account, all the way to running experiments. Bring a laptop with Wi-Fi to participate in real-time.

This tutorial is provided by OneLab, which is running PlanetLab Europe, the European arm of the global PlanetLab test bed.

Due to limited capacity of the room, we may need to limit participation in the tutorial to one participant per institution, with priority given to reaching the maximum number of FIRE projects.
