FIA Stockholm

23-24 November 2009, Stockholm

In conjunction with the Swedish Presidency of the European Union the next Future Internet Assembly conference will be held in Stockholm and Kista Science City on November 23-24, 2009. The conference is hosted by KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The programme and logistics information of the event can be found at http://www.fi-stockholm.eu/

Currently the EC is preparing a Communication on Future Internet, which will pave the way for a PPP on Future Internet, and FIA Stockholm is an important milestone on that. FIA is a very important asset for networking among different stakeholders and research communities on a large scale enhancing the PPP take off. The two-year old FIA plans for extending itself into other ICT-related communities such as electricity, transport and health.

Stockholm is important also for FIRE. The rationale and methodology for experimentally-driven research needs to be communicated in clear terms to the FIA constituency. Only this way FIRE’s role and sustainable and contributing position can be ensured. Two sessions will be organized from FIRE initiative: 1) on November 23 at 11:15-12:45 What does it mean to conduct experimentally-driven research; and 2) on November 24 at 9:00-11:00 Usage of facilities.
